The Kimpton Hotel Palomar | Washington, D.C.

For my 30th birthday, my husband wanted to do something special for me.  We had been talking about taking a trip somewhere for the last year, but couldn't decide where we wanted to go...and well, kids.  We discussed a few places and none of them really sounded that great until my husband called and asked me what I thought about Washington, D.C.  I didn't even have to think about it and told him that was a wonderful idea.  He had never been and it had been almost 15 years since I had visited.

We decided to stay at the Kimpton Hotel Palomar in Dupont Circle.  The location is amazing and I love everything it had to offer, from the luxurious rooms, the outdoor heated pool to the in-room spa services and more.  Not to mention complimentary happy hour in the evenings!  It is also within walking distance of some incredible restaurants, shopping and unique coffee shops.

I love how welcoming the hotel staff was when we arrived.  They truly made us feel like family and were there if we needed anything at all and were quick to accommodate us.   Who doesn't love walking into a sweet note, champagne and chocolate covered strawberries?  No one, that's who.  It was perfect for our first night in D.C. and a great way to celebrate my 30th birthday.

We didn't want to waste any of our long weekend, so our flight arrived early and we were able to check in before 10am and get our day started.  We stayed in the King Deluxe Suite and it truly exceeded our expectations.  The decor was modern, it was colorful and the spa bathroom was incredible.  It was the perfect place to come back to after walking around and exploring the city all day.

By far, my favorite part of our room was the spa bathroom.  It was so relaxing and there is nothing like unwinding in a luxury Fuji soaking tub with a glass of wine.  The shampoo, conditioner and body wash they provided took things to another level.  They smelled incredible and are definitely products I plan to purchase in the future.  I highly recommend upgrading your room to include this treat.

We had such an amazing time visiting Washington, D.C. and really enjoyed our stay at the Kimpton Hotel Palomar.  It was definitely a birthday trip to remember!  What has been your favorite birthday memory?  Did you take a special trip?  Let me know in the comments :)

Thank you to the Kimpton Hotel Palomar for partnering with us and for our amazing stay.  As always, all opinions are 100% my own and honest.
