On The Go Tips for Toddlers (and Big Kids)

This post is sponsored by Earth's Best Peanut Butter Puffs but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

We seem to always be on the go these days.  Between school drop offs and pickups, ballet, Girl Scouts, doctors appointments and more, we are always busy and spend a lot of time in the car.  Not to mention we do a lot of traveling during the holidays. Before we moved to Indiana from Florida, we would travel to both Kentucky and Texas often. Now, my husband’s family is in Indiana, so we don’t have to travel far but we still go to Texas often.

With four kids five and under, I’m all about making our trips as smooth as possible whether it's a quick trip down the street or a 12+ hour road trip.  Here are a few on the go tips that have helped me over the last few years.

1. Activity bags.  These are super helpful to keep in the car when on the go.  I keep a bag with mess free colors and books for my girls to have when they are suddenly bored and tired of being in the car.  You moms know what I'm talking about...when you've just pulled out of the drive way and you hear the dreaded, "are we there yet?" I love anything that isn't going to make a mess.  I also include a seek and find book, lacing cards and a magnetic drawing board.

2. Take breaks.  If you're traveling long distance, it's important to take breaks and let your little ones get some wiggles out.  We always try to leave at a time where our kids are going to get the most sleep time (either during naps or driving through the night), but I know this always isn't convenient.  We've also invested in a travel potty and it has been so great to have in emergency situations.

3. Bring their favorite lovie.  Whether it's a blanket or a stuffed animal they just can't be without, it's always good to have for comfort when you're not able to be in the back with them.  On another note, we always dress our kids comfortably when traveling long distance.

4. Snacks...all the snacks!  Snacks are where it's at to keep them happy.   Earth’s Best Organic ® Peanut Butter Puffs are my older girl's favorite healthy snack alternative right now and I know it will be my twin's favorite too when they are old enough to enjoy them.  (Earth’s Best Organic ® Peanut Butter Puffs are suitable for ages 24 months+)  I've always introduced peanut products to my kids early, so I can't wait for them to try these Peanut Butter Puffs.

Did you know for most infants with severe eczema and/or egg allergy who are already eating solid foods, introducing foods containing ground peanuts between 4 and 10 months of age and continuing consumption may reduce the risk of developing peanut allergy by 5 years of age. FDA has determined, however, that the evidence supporting this claim is limited to one study. For more information check out this helpful video on allergen introduction."

Made with Non-GMO and organic ingredients, Earth’s Best Organic ® Peanut Butter Puffs are my favorite too! #organiclookslikethis  They are also an excellent source of calcium, iron and zinc and have 0 grams of trans fat per serving.  I'd call that a #momwin!

Whether you are spending time in the car on the way to visit loved ones, or strolling with your toddler through the park, Peanut Butter Puffs are an easy to grab snack that can be thrown in the diaper bag for on the go treats to stifle your little one's hunger no matter where you are.

Earth's Best® Peanut Butter Puffs can be found within Walmart (located in toddler food aisle). It can also be bought at Walmart.com

As a mom of two under two, traveling is not always easy.  I'll be honest, I waited months before I decided to take both girls out of the house together (by myself).  I have yet to still take them both to Target with me.  Haha!  I'm for one, not brave enough yet and two, I use it as an excuse for a little "me" time.  Any moms out there who don't enjoy walking around Target, childless with a Starbucks coffee, raise your hand...anyone?

Now that we are going out more and I'm traveling around our area with both girls, I try to simplify what we need the best I can.  I love to bring along products that are hassle-free and makes our lives and our outings easy; especially when unexpected situations happen.  Because we all know, life with toddlers is not easy!

OXO Tot has made it so easy for us to enjoy our Summer at the park, museum, zoo and even the traveling we will be doing this Fall!  Here are some of their products that are essential for us when going out.

My girls LOVE to snack, like most kids do, I'm sure.  Emma is obsessed with OXO Tots Flippy™ Snack Cup with Travel Cover  She won't have any of her snacks out of anything else, but I don't mind because it's spill proof and has an awesome handle she can hang on to with her little hands.  It's even easy for Charlotte to use, who is still learning!  Being the wild toddler that she is, it does get tossed around and I love that it stays mess free.  As a mom, that makes my life so much easier!  I love that I can just put her favorite snack inside and not have to worry.  It even doubles as a snack container for the birds, ducks and squirrels at the park!

I don't know about you, but I have been terrified that Emma will have to go potty while we are heading somewhere.  She has been potty trained for over three months now, but you never know what could happen with a toddler OR when it could happen.  OXO Tot 2-in-1 Go Potty™ with Travel Bag is amazing!  You can stand it on it's own (it comes with disposable bags) or put it on your toilet.  I love that it has more than one way to use it and this is definitely coming with us everywhere we go!  It's so convenient, it doesn't make sense not to have one.

As much as I wish Charlotte was potty trained too, she is only nine months old.  Very wishful thinking!  OXO Tots On-the-Go Wipes Dispenser with Diaper Pouch has been my favorite product for our outings.  I seriously do not leave the house without it.  I love that I no longer have to search through my diaper bag.  I can snap this on my stroller or I keep it in my front seat when driving to and from places.  My toddler constantly has sticky, dirty hands (from all that snacking) and it's so easy to just grab a wipe out of the clutch and give it to her.  It also makes my life easier when I have to take Charlotte to change her diaper.  I just grab and go, hassle-free.  It holds the perfect amount of wipes, diapers and even diaper cream without being bulky!

OXO Tots Handy Stroller Hook has been extremely helpful too!  Before I had this, I would just throw bags at the bottom of our stroller.  This has helped me to keep our bags organized.  I no longer have to shuffle our bags around to find what I need.  It could even be used for Emma to hold on to if she wants to walk instead of ride in the stroller, which is great, because Miss Independent doesn't always like to stay in her stroller. #toddlerlife

Now, we certainly can't leave the house without our OXO Tot Transitions Soft Spout Sippy Cup Set!  We have gone through a lot of sippy cups over the last two years and this is a favorite.  I love how it transitions from a soft spout (great for Charlotte who is still nursing and won't take a bottle) to a training cup that Emma can use.  Emma loves that she can drink out of "big girl" cup and it's the perfect size for both of them!

I always make sure I carry around our OXO Tot Cleaning Set For Straw & Sippy Cups.  Toddlers, as much as we love them, are messy, which means sometimes gross things end up on or in their cups.  This is such a great and convenient tool to have around.  It doesn't take up hardly any space and I like that the girls have clean cups from one place to another.  As moms of toddlers, I know we are always trying to keep thing as germ-free as possible!

What are some of your favorite traveling essentials?
