Excuse the Mess, I have Toddlers | 3 Tips for a Tidy Home with Toddlers

Sponsored Post: This post is sponsored by the Libman Company, but as always all opinions are my own.

My biggest challenge as a stay at home mom is the housecleaning.  I know we've all heard the phrase, "please excuse the mess, the children are making memories", right?  As much as I love this and Lord know my girls make plenty of "memories", there's comes a point where I actually have to tidy the house.  If I didn't, my husband might start to wonder what I do all day.  Ha! And who doesn't love a tidy house?

After a long day with two toddlers under the age of 3, it can be hard, but I try my best to make sure it's tidy and the floors are at least swept before going to bed.  We've been using Libman products for years and were in desperate need of a new broom.  We headed to the nearest Walmart and grabbed the Libman Angle Precision Broom, which I knew would be the perfect broom to tackle the constant crumbs that are all over our floors.  Did I mention we also have a dog?  A malamute mix who sheds all year long.  What's one more thing to add to the chaos?!

Here are some tips that help us and will hopefully help you keep a tidy home if you have toddlers!

1. Set a routine.

I like to start with making the beds and tiding up the small things like picking up toys/clothes off the floor and cleaning up breakfast.  The bed making makes a huge difference in how I view my home for the day.  There is just something about a neatly made bed that makes me happy and more productive.  Laundry day is another one you want to set a routine for.  I started doing laundry on Monday and Thursday each week and it's amazing how much that has helped.  It doesn't pile up and I don't get overwhelmed.  Now, I know life happens and I occasionally miss a day, but it's easy to get back on track.  Basically, make a daily list and then prioritize from there for things like the dishes and vacuuming.

2. Let your toddler(s) help.

My oldest is at the age where she loves to help me, which means I can take advantage of her thinking that cleaning is fun and make games out of it!  Her favorite thing to do right now is sweep the floors.  It sometimes ends up making a bigger mess, but she's learning a little responsibility and it gives me a short break while she does it.  One thing that they can definitely help with is picking up after playtime.  I don't know about you, but if there are toys strung out all of the place, it's hard to get anything else done.

3. Sweep in the evening.

This one can be hard for me, especially when I'm exhausted and just want to go to bed.   However, this is the most important part to me when keeping a tidy home.  The Libman Angle Precision Broom does the perfect job in the evenings.  It is precisely cut to reach under cabinets and tight corners.  I love that it has a longer life and is environmentally friendly (made from recycled PET bottles).  Libman is guaranteed quality construction and can be used indoor and outdoor.  Some days, the house is just a mess and I'm thankful that I have a broom that helps me at least clean up the crumbs out of hard to reach spots before going to bed.

  15. My girls love to "help" and I let them because I feel like its an excellent learning opportunity. Their little Melissa and Doug brooms tend to spread the piles around more, but its the thought that counts right? :-)
