Beach Bag Essentials | Toddler Edition

Now that my girls are older, I definitely plan on taking advantage of living so close to the beach.  The weather has been amazing and I'm pretty sure the winter season is over here in Florida.

I attempted to take my girls last Friday to the beach, but it ended up being too windy. I can't wait to try again today for Kite Day and I wanted to share what I'll be bringing along with us.

1.  Beach Bag - This bag is amazing.  It's big enough to fit everything that we need and my favorite part about it is that it is water resistant.  It has plenty of pockets on the outside and the inside for smaller items like sunglasses, phone, chap-stick and more.  I love how easy it is to clean!

2.  Beach towel - I just ordered this mermaid beach towel for my oldest and she is going to scream when she sees it.  It is the perfect beach towel/cover up for little girls, but they make fun ones like sharks and superheros for boys too.  However, my little girl would love the shark towel too!

3. Sunscreen - Coppertone Water Babies is the sunscreen that I use on our girls.  I've tried a few different ones from spray to natural to organic and this is the one I like.  Honestly, as long as it is at least 50SPF for kids then any brand will work.  It's so important to protect our babies skin!

4.  I know this is a list for toddlers, but "Being a Mom is my Jam" water bottle is my favorite to take along with me.  It helps keep me hydrated in the sun and keeps my drink (that might actually be wine) cold.  You can use code 'mom10' for 10% off one for yourself!

5. Snack Containers and snacks -If you have toddlers, then you know it's crucial to take plenty of snacks. Re-play Recycled snack stacks are amazing and perfect for any of our outings and holding our snacks (our favorites are frozen grapes, pretzels and fruit/veggie pouches).  We've taken them to the park and most recently to an outdoor movie downtown.  I can't wait to take them to the beach with us next.  I love that I can stack two at a time, which is perfect for my girls.  Em gets one and Charlotte gets the other.  I put the same snack inside and they don't have to share.  And if you have toddlers, then you know sharing is not always easy.  They each come with lids so you can also use them individually and they are made out of recycled milk jugs.  How cool is that?!  Use code 'thelittlestfunk2017' for 20% off of your purchase!  You can also enter to win a set on Instagram!

6. Water Bottle - I've talked about Hydroflask before and how much we like it, but I can't stress enough how amazing this is for the beach.  The fact that it doesn't sweat and keeps the girls drinks extremely cold is great because you don't get toddler hand covered in sand stuck all over it, which could result in sand in your mouth and nobody wants that.

7. First Aid Kit - You never know what could happen with toddlers, so you definitely want to be prepared.  You don't have to carry around anything big.  A travel size will work fine or even just throwing some band aids, hand sanitizer and ointment in a Ziploc would work.

8. Baby Powder - Did you know that baby powder removes sand?  Best mom hack for the beach!

9. Sunglasses and hats - You want to protect your little ones eyes and face as much as you protect the rest of them.

10. Portable Potty - This one stays in the car with us.  Em has been potty trained for a while, but you never know when she will have to go and isn't able to hold it.  This is a must.

11. All-weather blanket - We take ours everywhere we go.  It's another item we keep in our car and it's perfect to lay out on the sand.  It folds and cleans up easy.

12. Beach toys - It's hard to go to the beach without fun things to keep you entertained.  My girls love playing in the sand and these toys keep them busy for hours!

13. Beach Umbrella - Right now we have a small beach umbrella, but I'm hoping to get this large sport's umbrella when they girls get a little older and want to go to the beach more.  It's nice to have something shaded to cool off under.

14. Life jacket/Swimsuits/Water shoes - If your toddlers are anything like mine, then they love the water.  It's so important to me to be extra careful even though I watch them like a hawk near the water.  Toddlers are quick and this makes me feel better about us being so close to a large body of water. Of course, it's a given to have the perfect swimsuit and water shoes help to keep your little one's feet from burning in the sand or getting cut on a shell.

15. Wagon/Stroller - Now you can't haul all of these items, plus your toddlers without help.  This beach wagon is perfect for holding your toddlers and all of your beach essentials.  The tires are big enough that they glide through the sand pretty easily.

Miscellaneous things not to forget:
  • Comb and detangler
  • Change of clothes
  • Diapers - Regular and Swim
  • Ziploc bag for trash
  • Ziploc bag for wet clothes
  • Chap-stick
  • Camera
  • Beach Chairs
